It is a progressive world out there, yet we can’t deny the fact that behind the progress are people that will take advantage of the situation. Crimes are committed everywhere due to dissatisfaction, envy, jealousy, greed, and anger. Such negativity will lose the trust and respect of the consumers towards the other companies that are offering an honest to goodness services. It is very unfortunate that these people will have to bear with the repercussions of the negative feedbacks, especially when consumers have the tendency to generalize things. It is unfair, but that’s where the challenge begins.
In the towing services, there are good and bad feedbacks. Some would say the tow truck drivers were on time, they were fast, friendly and courteous, executed the towing plan very well; some would say the towing company had them wait for a long time before the vehicle was released, the dispatcher was not polite, the towing company was not affiliated with the parking facility, and charged more than the usual towing fees, or the most common complaint is the predatory towing services.
So, what exactly is predatory towing? The word speaks for itself. It is acting on selfish motives usually in terms of pricing. There are towing companies that perform illegal towing on both the illegally parked and legally parked vehicles on private and public properties to augment their income. Start-ups and small towing companies have the most probability of doing these unethical practices, as observed by the community, but these are just presumptions. The competition is stiff, and the ladder to climb seems endless. The pirates are on the lookout of innocent vehicle owners. Clearly, patience is not a virtue to them.
Other towing companies have to watch out for these predatory towing services. There is the possibility of losing valued clients, and ruining the good reputation that took long for them to build. On another note, vehicle owners should initiate tact on dealing with these pirates, or they will lose a huge amount of money for the towing fees. Hence, it is relevant that we are aware of the predatory towing laws in the state where we live; that we should read and understand the guidelines to know where we stand and to fight for what is right. In California, vehicle code -CVC 22658 Article 1, authority to remove vehicles for private properties helps protect the Californians from the predatory towing services. New Jersey, Nevada and most of the states have likewise signed in to the Predatory Towing Prevention Act.
